Miseedlingssissippi is fortunate to possess a diverse and abundant mixture of natural resources. From the Gulf Coast Flatwoods to the Upper Coastal Plains, forest resources abound in Mississippi.  Forest resources represent the state’s largest single land use, covering more than 19.7 million acres. 64% of the state’s total land area is covered in forested acres.

Every citizen of the state is affected in some capacity by our forest resources.  Annually, forestry ranks among the top two agricultural products produced in the state.  In addition, Mississippi’s forests provide other benefits such as habitat for both game and non-game wildlife species, soil protection, water quality enhancement, and vast recreational and educational opportunities.
